Portlets are designed to show specific information or features on a page. The Questionmark portal consists of several pages and each page is configured to show portlets. Portlets can be configured to be shared with others or embedded in third-party applications using the share functionality.
Sharing a portlet with someone
To share a portlet with someone:
- Click Share in the top corner of the particular portlet you want to share.
- A Share pop-up window will be displayed.
- Click URL.
- Send the resulting URL text to the person you would like to share the portlet with.
Embedding a portlet in a third-party application
To share a portlet with a third-party application:
- Click Share in the top corner of the particular portlet you want to share.
- A Share pop-up window will be displayed.
- Click <Embed>.
- Use the iFrame code presented to place the portlet in any third-party application, including Wikis, blogs, and web pages that you would like to use the portlet with.
When embedding a portlet in another application you should ensure that it accepts the iframe syntax. If it doesn't you may need to change the syntax of the code to make it compatible with the third-party application or use any available plug-ins or gadgets that can be used to embed the portlet instead.
